First Summer School success

The first summer school, "Multi-Scale Approaches for Architectured and Microstructured Materials and Metamaterials," held in Nantes as part of the MS² program, was a resounding success. The event brought together leading experts, postdoctoral researchers, and Ph.D. students from across Europe to explore the latest advances in the mechanics of heterogeneous and architected materials.

The coordinaters Prof. Angela Madeo (TU Dortmund) and Prof. Jean-François Ganghoffer (Université de Lorraine) along with local support from Prof. Giulio Sciarra (École Centrale de Nantes) thank all the speakers and participants for their contributions, as well as the European Research Council (ERC) and the Franco-German University (DFH/UFA) for their support.

The next round of the international MS² Master program has gotten off to a successful start.

Dean Prof. Gralla and Prof. Madeo welcome the second cohort of the international Master’s program Mechanics of Sustainable Materials and Structures (MS²) at TU Dortmund University. A total of 32 students from 24 countries are enrolled in the program, which is offered in cooperation with the University of Trento (Italy) and the École Centrale de Nantes (France).

During their studies, the students will move through Europe together: starting at TU Dortmund, continuing in Trento, and completing their academic journey in Nantes. Supported by the Erasmus Mundus initiative of the European Union, the program's internationalization and the focus on the socially important topic of sustainability in the construction industry align with the overarching goals of TU Dortmund University and the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
